Ink, paint, & pixel: New Works by T. Jay Santa Ana

Artist Statement

I am fascinated by time, space, and line, constantly seduced by ink, paint, and pixel. As a South Bay, San Diego artist and INFJ Scorpio, it is no surprise my work is influenced by the ocean, the beach, water. There is a language in the movements of water that bears a strong resemblance to my mother tongue, Tagalog, in the form of Baybayin, a pre-colonial Filipino script. I consider these forms an intersection of lines connecting my ancestors, the present moment, and myself. It’s all the movements of my reality merging into one.

Recently I have begun imagining how my work can exist in the Crypto Art world, more specifically as NFTs (non fungible tokens). I have been viewing the recent spotlight on NFTs as a new extension of consciousness where my art can exist and move about in trajectories I could not have imagined a few years ago.

For “Merge” I am presenting a series of digital works alongside the analogue pieces that inspired them, works in ink and in paint. A series of these digital pieces have been minted and are currently existing as NFTS on the Etherium blockchain.
